La Caravana Internacional de Juristas y la Comité de Derechos Humanos de la Abogacía de Inglaterra y Gales presentaron un amicus curiae al Tribunal Administrativo de Cundinamarca en Bogotá sobre una acción pública actualmente ante el Tribunal. La acción expone que los derechos colectivos a un medio ambiente sano, a la seguridad pública, y a la salud pública han sido violados con respecto a los mineros y la comunidad cercana de la mina a cielo abierto, conocido como Cerrejón, ubicada en La Guajira, una de las minas a cielo abierto más grande del mundo. El amicus trata de las normas internacionales que pertenecen a estos asuntos, específicamente las obligaciones positivas a salvaguardar el derecho colectivo al disfrutar un medio ambiente sano, a condiciones seguras de trabajo, y a un medio ambiente seguro de trabajo, además de las salvaguardias que deberán proveer un sistema de salud ocupacional.

The Colombian Caravana UK Lawyers Group and the Bar Human Rights Committee have submitted an amicus curiae brief to the Adminstrative Tribunal (of Cundinamarca in Bogota) regarding a class action currently before the Tribunal. The action argues a breach of the collective rights to a healthy environment, public safety and public health for mineworkers and the community living around the open cast mine known as Cerrejon, in la Guajira Colombia, (one of the largest open cast coal mines in the world). The brief deal with international standards relevant to these issues, namely positive obligations to safeguard the collective right to enjoyment of a healthy environment, the right to safe working conditions and a safe working environment and safeguards that should be provided by a system of occupational health.
